Frequently asked questions

Everything about sending with PortSMS, from the first top up to the API.

Prices

How is a message priced?

Each country has a price per SMS part. A message costs that price times its number of parts, for each recipient. The Send page shows the exact total before you send.

What is an SMS part?

One part holds 160 GSM-7 characters (plain Latin letters, digits and common signs) or 70 Unicode characters, for example emoji or Arabic, Cyrillic, Thai or Chinese script. Longer texts are split into parts of 153 or 67 characters, up to 10 parts.

How do plans work?

Your plan follows the total of all your top ups, from Starter to Enterprise. Each plan takes a discount off every message in every country, and a plan you reach stays with you.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. You pay only for the messages you send, from your balance.

Sending

Which countries can I send to?

227 countries and territories, each with its own public price and country page.

How many numbers can I send to at once?

Up to 10,000 numbers in one send from the web page, and up to 1,000 in one API request. Paste numbers or upload a CSV.

How do I follow delivery?

Every number has its own status: queued, sent, delivered or not delivered. See it on the send page, through the API, or in signed webhooks sent to your server.

What if a message is not delivered?

Its price goes back to your balance automatically. Numbers removed during the check before sending cost nothing.

Payments

How do I top up?

With USDT on the TRON (TRC20) network, from $50 to $10,000 per top up. Each top up has its own address and exact amount.

How do I see my top up?

The Balance page lists each top up with its status, and your balance updates when the payment is credited.

Does my balance expire?

No. Your balance has no expiry date, and you can ask Support to withdraw unused balance.

Account and API

How do I sign in?

Your account is a personal token you save when you create it. Paste it to sign in from any device. A copy in your password manager makes it easy to find.

How do I get an API key?

Create it on the API key page after your first top up. Send with POST /api/v1/messages and check prices without sending with POST /api/v1/estimate.

How long are messages kept?

Message text and phone numbers are cleared 90 days after sending. Totals and charges stay on your account.
